On October 1, 2023, RC PEN actively participated in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with a mission to contribute to the cleanliness and hygiene of Pen City. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) is a national-level campaign initiated by the Government of India, aimed at cleaning the streets, roads, and infrastructure across 4041 statutory towns in the country. Objective: The primary objective of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is to provide basic sanitation facilities to every individual, including toilets, solid and liquid waste disposal systems, village cleanliness, and safe and adequate drinking water supply. The mission aims to cover 1.04 crore households, provide 2.5 lakh community toilets, 2.6 lakh public toilets, and ensure a solid waste management facility in each town. RC PEN's Role and Activities: Community Engagement: RC PEN mobilized volunteers and community members to participate in the cleanliness drive, raising awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment. Clean-up Drive: Volunteers cleaned streets, roads, and public areas in Pen City, collecting and properly disposing of waste. Sanitation Facilities: Efforts were made to identify areas needing sanitation facilities and promote the construction of community toilets in densely populated residential areas.
