Jointly organized by Rotary Club of Ambernath North, Rotary Club of Pen, and Inner Wheel Club of Pen Amrit Jalat POP Ganpati Idol Dissolution and Nirmalya Collection - 2024 Rotary Club of Pen, under the guidance of Rotary Club of Ambernath North, has undertaken a unique initiative to preserve the environment and conserve water resources. The Rotary Club of Pen has humbly appealed to households that install POP Ganpati idols to immerse them in the artificial pond filled with Amrit Jalat prepared by the Rotary Club instead of immersing them in the river. Upon immersion, a reaction begins on the POP idol due to the Amrit Jalat. Depending on the density of the Amrit Jalat and the size of the plastic tank, the idol dissolves completely in 3 to 5 days. The residue left at the bottom of the tank is calcium, and a high-quality liquid fertilizer called ammonium sulfate is produced. Calcium can be used to make chalk or as a soil supplement, while the liquid fertilizer can be used for plants as a liquid fertilizer. This eco-friendly initiative has received excellent support from the public and devotees. The responsibility of environmental conservation, which was taken up, has certainly received cooperation from the people. However, Rotary Club President Sanyogita Temghare stated that efforts will continue to instill this idea of environmental conservation in the minds of more people. Although this is the first year of the project, we received a great response, she added. The Chief Officer of Pen Municipality, Mr. Jeevan Patil, also praised the initiative and supported the club’s efforts, assuring that next year, the project will be carried out on a larger scale, ensuring that no POP idols will be immersed in the river. Rotarian Rajesh Bhawsar, the project in-charge from Rotary Club of Ambernath North and the initiator of this project, explained the entire process of idol dissolution in detail. Many dignitaries from Pen visited the artificial pond, including Honorable MLA Mr. Ravi Sheth Patil, Police Inspector of Pen Mr. Vijay Temghare, and Mr. Fadtare Sir, along with Mr. Lalit Patil, Advocate Mangesh Nene, Mr. Raju Pichika, Mr. Santosh Patil, and Mr. Anil Darekar, who all praised the initiative.
